It’s so funny how things go. One week I’m worried about the direction I’ve taken in life, and then things enter warp speed, and I realize that I couldn’t possibly be anywhere but where I am at this moment. I have about four business ideas in the back burners of my mind…okay maybe it’s more like twelve, and they have all been on simmer for a while, and now I have deadlines to meet with all or most of them.
This is not a complaint. I constantly wish to see progress in my development as a human. I struggle to see progress on a day to day basis. I can get so bogged down in the minutia, and it feels exhilarating to be seeing movement happen. These are the things that are happening this week.
~I will be putting the finishing touches on my contribution to the care instructions for the knitting pattern that Jennie and I are releasing.
~ I will finally be getting modeled pictures of the boys in the soakers. PS. If you are local, and have a baby who is a smaller size than our babies, I would love the opportunity to photograph your baby wearing a wool soaker.
~ Tommy and I started a very small vending machine business a few months ago. This week we’re dotting some I’s and crossing T’s to get them placed.
~ I’m meeting with a friend about the possibility of collaborating on some projects about birth, and emotional healing, etc.
Plus Saturday was the yearly Girl Scout overnight camp. In addition to all of the normal weekend things, we packed Tommy and Gracie up to go spend an evening with the girls. In order to get ready, we had to fix the tail light and windshield wiper on Tommy’s car. I say “we” because this s my contribution to the fixing process as told by Tommy:
“Got stuck trying to change the brake light on my Kia Rio. I did my best, asked my neighbor to help out, had Bibi look at it, and just couldn’t get access to the housing.
Bibi: “I think you should look it up on youtube. They’ve got everything on youtube.”
Me: “Nah, I’m just gonna go in to AutoZone and have them help me.”
Me, at Autozone: “So, I need help getting access to be able to replace the brake light on my 2003 Kia Rio.”
All four of the people working at AutoZone, in unison: “You should look it up on youtube. They’ve got everything on youtube.”” ~Tommy Estlund
All this to say that the weekend seemed something like this.
In preparation for the photos that I’m going to need to take, I went ahead a purchased a new camera. It’s a new and fancy camera for me. I’ve never owned one that is so nice or has as many features. But, I also know almost zilch about photography. So I took a little online photography course. This is one of the homework assignments from said course. I’m supposed to capture a moving subject getting them mostly in focus while having the background blur a bit. It’s supposed to communicate motion. It’s called panning, and this is one of my favorites. Ava and Grace both were very nice to allow me to practice with them. Ava’s little face cracks me up.
Another assignment was to do the opposite which is to arrest motion. Here is my favorite of those…Okay, so it’s still a tiny tad blurry, but what do you expect as twilight begins.
I still have a bunch of assignments to complete, but I’ve learned a lot about photography…but still not how to get everyone to smile in the picture….
But, still…sometimes I get lucky.
Tell me what you are looking forward to doing. And what progress are you making towards your goals? PS. I was really serious about taking pictures of your babies…pretty please?
