It’s the end of a Monday that felt like Tuesday all day. The pace of the last week and a half has been so fast that I could barely believe that today was only one day.
This has been a week bursting with life. Literally.
About a week ago, we traveled back to Tommy’s hometown to celebrate a beautiful and momentous anniversary in the family. We broke bread with family that we hadn’t seen in a few years, and danced into the night on the rooftop. That night we decided to drive home instead of staying the night.
I had a doula client who was due to have her baby, and felt a strong urge to get home in case she needed me. Unbeknownst to me, her contractions actually started at the exact moment that we were pulling into town. That day I spent with her. It was one of the most incredible labors and births I have ever been a part of.
It isn’t my story to tell, but I just have to share that I’ve never seen anyone more in tune with her own body, except for maybe my own mother as she gave birth to my sister Goodi.
While I was at the birth, our children were spending time with their grandparents, and Tommy performed a wedding of some dear friends and kindred spirits.
Then came a week that included the first days of class for Tommy, many lactation visits for me, and a very special sixth birthday for Ava.
I’m incredibly in awe and so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of so many people’s huge life moments. Whether it be the birth of a child, or the first few days or weeks of breastfeeding, or maybe I’m attending a wedding that Tommy is officiating, or celebrating the accomplishment of 30 years of marriage. Or maybe I am getting to listen to a friend speak animatedly about a new business venture.
I see beauty and abundance everywhere I look. Thank you to all of you who are in my life, and allow me to be a part of yours.
